Our custom designed hard surface wires combined with our high-tech machinery, produce extremely consistent overlay each minute of each day. The oscillated weld bead, combined with circumferential overlay, produce a very smooth surface that results in low turbulence. The old standard of “longitudinal” overlay is not utilized in our processes due to the high levels of distortion and slow weld times. Our competitors utilize the outdated longitudinal process for Elbows; as our new patented circumferential elbow overlay technology is not available to them.
Almac Wear is the first to develop “circumferential” overlay for elbows and has successfully patented the process. This process makes the Almac Elbow Overlay Machinery the most advanced, efficient, and cost effective in North America.
Pipe Spool Overlay:
All pipe spools are overlaid circumferentially using an oscillating weld bead. The first thinner "butter pass" provides superior attachment to the base metal, the thicker second pass provides high carbide density in the medium and large carbide sizes.
Pipe Elbow Overlay:
Using open arc flux-cored wire, our patented Elbow Overlay machines apply an oscillated weld bead circumferentially on the inside diameter of an elbow. We are the only company in North America to do this.
The advantage of this process is, the percentage of ovality and diameter shrinkage is significantly less than conventional methods. This control over distortion allows for easier fit-up and attachment with lower flow deflection while materials travel through the elbow. The benifits for our customers include lower installation costs and increased lifecycles of the component. |
