Overlay

Utilizing automated overlay technologies unique to Almac, we have become a leader in hard surfacing technology for piping systems. We have researched, tested and designed specialized Chromium Carbide Alloys to exceed the wear resistance of generic alloys used in wear coatings.

To create these enhanced alloys, elements such as Niobium (Nb) [Columbium (Cb)], Molybdenum (Mo), Manganese (Mn) and Vanadium (V) have been added.

Almac Wear Chromium Carbide Alloys:

AWT-CC601: Improved High Chromium Carbide Alloy. Molybdenum (Mo) containing a high volume of primary carbides has been added for severe abrasion and light impact uses.
AWT-CC602: Enhanced High Chromium Carbide Alloy. Contains an extremely high volume of primary carbides with improved wear and impact resistance.
AWT-CC603: Complex High Chromium Carbide Alloy. Columbium (Cb) or Niobium (Nb) added for superior wear and impact resistance. Suitable for elevated temperature situations.

Quality hard surface overlay is dependent on two major factors being the wire chemistry and the equipment used in applying the overlay. The combination Almac's patented process technology, our patented machinery and our carefully developed wire chemistry, produces the highest level of quality in the industry.

To ensure that every product is up to this high level of quality Almac has engineered the machines and processes used in our overlay production facility. For further information about the machinery and the application process see the equipment or overlay process page.

To test the performance of our overlay products, we have manufactured the ASTM G65 Abrasion Tester. For more information about this unique machine, follow the link below.
